We Were Never Slaves!

Updated: Jun 19, 2020

Thought for the day:

The word "slave" is a noun. It defines who/what someone is. The word "enslaved" is an adjective. It describes a condition.

African people have been around since Lucy. The few hundred years that we were enslaved - albeit brutal and inhumane - was but a mere bat of an eye historically. It did not define those people who suffered through that experience, it merely described the condition they found themselves in.

Those Africans were not slaves. They were free people who were immorally stolen from their lands in one of the most egregious crimes against humanity in history. They were enslaved.

It's an important distinction.
